Regional Development Committees have been formed throughout 55 regional development areas throughout Australia with the focus on developing a ‘Regional Roadmap’ which provides an overview of a particular region, including a description of the region, its attributes, industry, agricultural and employment base and key advantages, key issues, goals and priorities for action. In Queensland, such a plan is known as the ‘Regional Roadmap’ to avoid confusion with existing state regional polices and documents. The development of this regional roadmap has been prepared through a detailed and collaborative approach to identifying the key issues and top priorities for the Darling Downs and South West region. Blueprint for the Bush is a 10 year whole-of-Government strategy for building a sustainable, liveable and prosperous future for rural communities in Queensland. Tomorrow's Regions brings together the Blueprint for the Bush initiative and Regional Development Australia (RDA) initiative to provide a stronger voice for rural and regional communities in Queensland. Under the new model, RDA committees within Blueprint for the Bush areas will prepare a Regional Blueprint as part of their RDA Regional Roadmap. The Regional Blueprint focuses on the specific issues and priorities of rural and remote communities within the RDA region. For further details click here

Review of the role of the public number database

The Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBCDE) has released a discussion paper which seeks community views on the future role and functions of the Integrated Public Number Database (IPND).The IPND was established to assist organisations including emergency services to locate callers. However changes and technological advancements in telecommunications have increased the complexity of this role. The DBCDE is particularly interested in feedback from people located in remote and regional areas of Australia, given the increased delay they may face in emergency situations. To find out more and to obtain a copy of the paper, visit the DBCDE website.
